Volume 28, Number 1 (2026) of SOSIOLOGI: Jurnal Ilmiah Kajian Ilmu Sosial dan Budaya presents five scholarly articles exploring the intersections of cultural preservation, digital transformation, globalization, community development, and local identity. Through diverse sociological perspectives, this issue examines the digital presence of Javanese pitung weton astrology, cultural revitalization in the Saribu Rumah Gadang area of Minangkabau, the glocalization of digital educational platforms in Indonesia, digital nomadism and changing social spaces in Bali, and the development of Ulos weaving as a cultural tourism attraction in Samosir Regency. Collectively, these contributions demonstrate how local communities negotiate social and cultural changes amid modernization, technological advancement, and global economic integration. The discussion of pitung weton highlights the challenges of sustaining indigenous knowledge and its associated language in digital environments. Meanwhile, the study of Saribu Rumah Gadang emphasizes the importance of collective action and community participation in preserving cultural heritage. Research on digital education reveals how global technologies are adapted to local values while potentially creating new inequalities and forms of digital vulnerability. This issue also examines the broader consequences of global mobility and cultural tourism. The analysis of digital nomadism in Bali illustrates how global flows can generate economic opportunities while intensifying gentrification, inequality, and cultural tensions. Similarly, the study of Ulos weaving highlights the need to balance tourism development and economic sustainability with the preservation of cultural meaning, community relationships, and traditional craftsmanship. Together, these articles contribute to a deeper understanding of the dynamic relationship between local traditions and contemporary transformations. They offer valuable insights for academics, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners concerned with cultural sustainability, inclusive development, digital inequality, and community empowerment. The editorial team expresses its sincere appreciation to the authors, reviewers, and all contributors whose efforts have made this issue possible. We hope these articles will inspire further research, encourage interdisciplinary dialogue, and strengthen sociological engagement with the social and cultural challenges facing contemporary society.
